Dr. Christina Cooley

I am a physician board certified in emergency medicine, nutrition, and lifestyle medicine. I provide telemedicine services, including acute adult and pediatric care; preventive and lifestyle medicine assessments, screening, and treatment plans; and nutrition plans for those adult patients with cancer and chronic diseases and pediatric patients with autism, ADHD, seizures, and metabolic syndrome, and also for those patients desiring general disease prevention, weight loss, or body-sculpting.
What inspires me?
My primary passion is taking care of critically ill patients in the emergency department setting. Over the years, I have developed a growing passion for preventive and lifestyle medicine, as the large majority of emergency department visits are related to chronic medical illnesses that can usually be prevented or reversed with lifestyle changes. Over the ten years I have practiced medicine, I have noticed an alarming trend of the increasing prevalence of chronic lifestyle-related diseases, especially metabolic syndrome, which includes obesity, hypertension, and diabetes, even in young children and disproportionately affecting minorities. I often do not have the needed time to get to the real root of the problem and counsel patients on more permanent fixes in the confines of an emergency department setting. My telemedicine practice gives me the flexibility to provide this much needed health care service. Nutrition is a fundamental component of preventing and treating most diseases. My interest in nutrition started when my dad got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. My research into post-Whipple diets and cancer-related cachexia led me down the rabbit hole of all the research available on nutrition and its use in preventing and treating disease in general. I then started my fellowship and specialization in nutrition and lifestyle medicine. I have personally seen how nutrition can transform someone’s life. And I’m excited to share my knowledge with you.
